Food for thought

The father of sin was theft; every one of the Ten Commandments boiled down to “Thou shalt not steal.” Murder was the theft of a life, adultery the theft of a wife, covetousness the secret, slinking theft that took place in the cave of the heart. Blasphemy was the theft of God’s name, swiped from the House of the Lord and sent out to walk the streets like a strutting whore.

  1. The father of sin was a lie. The devil tempted Eve with the lie “You shall be as God”. The bible says that the devil is a liar and the father of lies. Eve fell for the lie and disobeyed God. But the bible says sin came into the world through one man, Adam. Eve was deceived, but Adam chose Eve over obedience to God. He knew what he was doing. Man has been falling for it ever since, thinking his way is better than Gods way. Or I know better than God. Or just plain choosing self will over God’s will.
The devil followed it up with “Did God really say” casting doubt on God and his word. People are still falling for that one too. “God isn’t going to send me to hell for this little infraction”.
But it all started with a lie and man’s disobedience to God’s word.
